Lt. A Divya !

Another hero of 2010 was Lt.A Divya (or Lt.Divya Ajit Kumar). The Indian Army named a woman as its best all-round cadet for the first time in its history. It was none other than Lt.Divya.She had receive the coveted Sword of Honour on 18 september ,2010 at the Officers' Training Academy (OTA) in the southern city of Chennai.
She beat nearly 230 other cadets, including 70 female peers, to the prize after 49 weeks of gruelling training.
"She has come out on top in the overall merit list. She has outsmarted all others," said OTA spokesman Major R K Choudhary.

Ms Kumar, the daughter of a Chennai businessman, told the Times of India that she had planned to become a civil servant.

But she changed her mind after joining the National Cadet Corps, a voluntary organisation for college students.

Its not at all easy to get into OTA,no bookish knowledge will help you in any case. Each & every cadet is putting his/her best in all activities.SSB is a miracle,it is the only place where one cannot bluff. It is one of the most toughest as well as easiest interview in India. Its a bit dissappointing that even after clearing the medicals, there are chances of getting merit out.....I know some candidates who had lost in merit. Each one's dream is to pin those stars on shoulders.

Still I wonder why Army is not ready to give permanent commission for women officers,or atleast, they can be granted pension & other benefits.Any one of the two can be implemented.Heard that talks are there to open the gates of NDA,Pune for girls. But many Ex-NDA cadets have a lot of questions ......first one is about the rigorous training even some boys can't afford it...how girls will ???how can a cadet be trained in full clothes in NDA ??Like that lot of things. It would be better to start a new academy for girls (other than OTA).Once I came to know that the first batch of lady officers, who had undergone a 4 year training, will be commissioned by 2013.But for that, the course must be started by 2010.It has not happened yet.Even i was eagerly waiting for the notification of that course.

But got another opportunity to experience the life of a GC in IMA.It was through a reality show "Mission Army'',by Nat Geo.I had registers & got the call letter too....but unforunately missed it,as my university exam dates & these dates got clashed....now waiting for the next.

I believe that two starts on the shoulder is better than a million(or uncountable) in the sky !!
